Chocolate covered strawberries? Totally not forbidden on paleo- but who would have thought? This smoothie was created before realizing that it wanted to be a chocolate covered strawberry, but the taste will immediately remind you of one.
Why strawberries? They're rich in antioxidents, full of fiber, vitamin C, naturally sweet, and currently, in season.
Why coconut sugar? Coconut palm sugar is a delicious low-glycemic sweetener that is rich in minerals and provides consistent energy via delayed glucose absorption and the nutritional boost of minerals.
Handful of ice
1/2 banana (or fruit of choice to help make a creamy base)
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup almond milk
5 BIG strawberries, or 7-8 small
vanilla bean, or vanilla flavoring (extract usually contains alcohol which changes the flavor)
Then after the above is blended well, add in:
1 tbsp cacao nibs
and blend on the lowest setting for about 10 seconds
