It's that time of year, as we are all clearly aware- the pumpkin everything season is upon us.
I used to just crave that Pumpkin Spice Latte from every coffee shop, until I realized all the fake, processed, junk I was guzzling down. I mean, look around you and you will see, every fast food joint and restaurant have their own pumpkin drinks- from the coffees, to the frozen shakes. One particular frozen pumpkin pie drink, 14 oz , clocks in at 710 calories and 78 GRAMS OF SUGAR. Really? Because honestly, pumpkin pie is mostly pumpkin puree and spice, I just had to do this drink justice and make a real food friendly version. Maybe our paleolithic ancestors weren't so excited for the coming of fall and winter, that they celebrated with festive drinks, but I feel it totally necessary, in moderation of course.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie - Paleo Style
In a blender, combine:
1 handful of ice cubes
1 large banana
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
1/2 cup almond milk
1 1/2-2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (make your own, here)
1 tsp hemp seeds
garnish of mulberries, more spice, and hemp seeds (optional)
