These kale chips have everything good in life inside them! The ingredients are almost all organic, and the taste – the taste! Wow! The first time we discovered these chips, we seriously ate bag after bag of them. Like perhaps five bags in one sitting. They’re almost a meal unto themselves, and taste at once richly-flavored, crisp, and substantial. There’s a solid quality to these chips, unlike some of the more delicate ones on the market. These chips don’t fall apart in your fingers like dehydrated tissue-paper; they’re thick, and dredged in flavor.
This best-selling flavor, Quite Cheezy, is the original chip that started the kale chip revolution. It’s vegan, but your friends will never believe you. For over nine years the chip makers have kept the same signature “cheesy” blend of cashews, red bell pepper and nutritional yeast. In each bag you'll find full kale leaves that have been dehydrated for a satisfying crunch.

On a personal level, when I used to live on Venice Beach a few years ago, I would make it a point to eat a bag of these kale chips every night for dinner, along with a burrito. It was my perfect dinner; I was really heavy into surfing at the time, which burns an incredible amount of calories, and I’d be able to devour a burrito (or two) very easily to get all the macro-nutrients I needed. But never being a big fan of veggies, myself, I knew I was missing something from my diet, and was delighted when I chanced on these kale chips. They’re crispy in the way that potato chips are, but seem like they’re ten thousand times better for you – especially if you’re a paleo athelete!
Kale Krunch sprouts, mixes and dehydrates the ingredients at low temperatures so that they remain 'raw'. Since they never bake or fry their ingredients, you can rest assured that the fat in their products comes from heart-healthy nuts and seeds. The nutrients and great taste stay intact and aren't processed away!

I prefer to soak the cashews a few hours in advance in water, and then when it's time to make this recipe, I pour out the water and keep the plump cashews.
I should note that I usually triple or quadruple the ingredients above to make a mega-batch!
I usually just tear the leaves of the kale off the stem. I do this in strips, with my hands. I don't use a knife; they peel off easily. Once they're removed from the stem, I put them into a big bowl of water and swoosh around with my hands, to remove excess dirt. (A little dirt is fine!)
I put the kale strips in a giant bowl, which will be used later to mix everything together.
Now, to make the flavor for the kale chips, combine the cashews, sliced bell peppers, lemon juice, yeast, salt, and spices into a blender. I use a Vitamix blender. You'll want to blend it as long as it takes, until it's smooth.
Around this time, I usually ask Hilary for help, because it involves kneading the flavor sauce into the kale chips; to get the best texture, it's best if someone kneads and softens the kale leaves, all the while working the flavor into them. It's labor intensive, takes a few minutes. Or four times longer if you're making a mega-batch! (While Hilary does this, I'm usually cleaning up the prep work and Vitamix). Once the flavor is more or less evenly distributed across the kale strips, layer the strips onto a dehydrator screen. Our dehydrator has about 8 screens, and we end up using 2 for each bunch of kale, or all 8 layers if we make a giant mega-batch.
Last step: turn on the dehydrator to 115 degrees, and come back in 8 hours to rotate the chips. Let them continue another 8 hours, and you're done! The house will smell delicious as the dehydrator works its magic, and the smell of fresh primal raw kale chips permeates the house. I wish I could bottle that smell up!
That said -- this whole process is messy, labor-intensive, and requires waiting almost a full day, factoring in the time it takes to soak cashews, prep the food, and dehydrate it. And clean up afterwards. So honestly, it's really much easier to just buy the best kale chip provisions you can -- and we've got them here, on this site!
