Curated and considered for the modern primal life

Rose Cacao Mint MCT Oil Toothpaste by The Dirt - 35 ml

That foamy toothpaste effect is what we've grown up with, all bubbly and minty. Truth is, it's about as necessary to dental health as that hanging car air freshener is to the longevity of your vehicle. Luckily, The Dirt is here to reset your tooth brushing experience to a new normal of gentle clean for your pearly whites. One little swab of this paste makes for a cacao mint party, bolstered by herbs and softened by bentonite clay. Your mouth: happy. Your breath: sweet. Your smile: sexy. Can it get better?

For the true, true stories behind this incredible mouthstuff, read on.

Long ago, someone in the land of marketing decided that mint and toothpaste belong together, and it wasn't without reason. Mint gives a cool feeling in the mouth, a sense of freshness that's appealing as heck. Add some foaming agents and you have for one heck of a marketing campaign, geared at this "problem" of teeth that were not perfectly fresh and shiny. Along the way, more flavors were added, sweeteners piled on, and additives added in spades.

Your antidote is this cute little tube of mouth bliss: Rose Cacao Mint Toothpaste by The Dirt. Why "the dirt"? Well... it's a bit literal, really. The main ingredient is bentonite clay, a softly cleansing powder that is about the best kind of dirt I can possibly imagine. It's natural (obviously), but it reacts with moisture (like the kind in your mouth) to grab on to toxins and scrub them away from the surfaces of your teeth and gums.

But what is it like to actually USE some of this paste? I'll admit it, a teeny bit strange at first. Not having that foamy mouth took a day or two to get used to, but after that I was in the new normal of minty clean. The cacao flavor is mild, yet you'll know it's there. I worried I was going to feel like I was eating Junior Mints while brushing my teeth but this flavor is refreshing without inducing any kind of dessert cravings or memories. The rose essential oil is nicely in the background, barely detectable but for a moment.

After brushing for more than a full minute, everything seemed shiny and clean so it was time to rinse, and see what this earthy paste looks like once done doing its job. Truthfully it's just a little bit tan in color but no big deal. Your toothbrush may take on a pale tone after several days but your teeth are feeling shiny and looking snappy. The whole experience just feels a bit minimalist and in a very good way: brushing with earthy but tasty paste, only using just what you need and no more, and tucking that little metal tube back in the medicine cabinet when done. My routine is now set.

Why MCT toothpaste is so good for your teeth and your whole oral space!

Toss out that foamy tube of extra-super-bright-white-turbo-sweet-all-day-paste and start over with amazing oral health. Scrub your teeth (gently) with bentonite clay for a smile that shows off your great nutrition, rather than harshly grinding on that precious enamel.

There are a million toothpastes in the world so The Dirt thought to themselves "how can we make a toothpaste that blows all others out of the water?" They have done it! This MCT oil toothpaste combines the great effects of MCT oil (fractionated coconut oil) with the benefits of bentonite clay and a touch of theobromine, a natural part of the cacao pod that has been shown to improve oral health and prevent decay.

And that's only half of it, with a premium flavor profile that will knock your socks off. Start with exotic organic rose with luscious cacao and mint to give you the tastiest fresh breath you've ever had, without overwhelming you. If you're sick of excessive mint flavor making your mouth feel like someone mopped it out with floor cleaner, this MCT toothpaste is for you. One customer described it as "A wedding party in your mouth" sweetened with a touch of Organic Chemical free Stevia Extract. The new more compact tube is easy to squeeze and TSA friendly.

Here are some of the amazing ingredients in The Dirt's toothpaste:

Extra-fine Bentonite Clay

Bentonite Clay is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. Upon contact with fluid, its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins. Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. Bentonite is a swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are bound.

Bentonite clay carries a strong negative charge which bonds to the positive charge in many toxins. When it comes in contact with a toxin, chemical, or heavy metal, the clay will absorb the toxin and release it’s minerals for the body to use. Bentonite also helps get oxygen to cells as it pulls excess hydrogen and allows the cells to replace it with oxygen instead.

Ok, so in toothpaste, what does that mean? Lots of removal of toxins, but the other awesome part about this clay is that it is a soft cleanser. So, so soft... remember that dude down the block who polished his car day in and day out with old cloth diapers? This clay is that cloth on your shiny chompers.

MCT Oil

This fractionated coconut oil provides some great mouthfeel for the toothpaste, along with some antimicrobial properties, healthy fats, and nutrition for your gums.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon has a wonderfully warming taste, and many nutritional benefits. It is often associated with longevity. In Ayurveda, cinnamon has helped with diabetes, and it has also been shown to have antifungal, antibacterial and antiinflammatory properties.

How to use Rose Cacao Mint Toothpaste

Ok, just like toothpaste... except take a teeny tiny bit on your brush, like smaller than a pea, and then once the brush is wet, scrub away. This tube will last a shockingly long time, and it's even airplane friendly!

About The Dirt, in their own words

Here's how Shannon, the Founder, describes the origins of The Dirt:

I've been a long time practitioner of the paleo lifestyle. After sticking to an extremely healthy routine for over a year  I started to notice something about my favorite natural products... They kinda sucked. I felt let down, many used ingredients that were highly processed, questionably safe and just seemed 'green washed'.
Using the principals of the paleo lifestyle; a 'whole foods' life style, clean eating and high nutrients I drew inspiration from my passion for studying traditional beauty secrets from around the world. I blended potion after potion until the ultimate formulas were created. 'The Dirt' Paleo Personal Care was born!

I know you'll love 'The Dirt's products! Grab a jar and get dirty with me!

"The Dirt Paleo Personal Care was founded to start a revolution.

We were not satisfied with the natural product lines on the market, many a 'green washed' to look much safer than they actually are and most use soy or corn byproducts which are cheap and unnecessary fillers. We demand more!

All of our products are Soy Free, Corn Free, Gluten Free, Grain Free, Cruelty Free and Natural. We don't use fillers, ever! Our essential oil blends are formulated to preform not just smell good (Sorry other guys). Everything about our product blends is intentional... and awesome. Because, why should your healthy lifestyle stop at your plate? Fix your face! The dirt is 100% natural 200% kick-ass."

Here are answers to some of your most important questions!

Are any of The Dirt's products Vegan?

SOME of our products are vegan. Being a company based on paleo lifestyle guidelines we feel there are certain animal products that are too beneficial to leave out such as organic bees wax and ghee. We are VERY concerned about the well being of our animal friends and only use cruelty free products from suppliers who care about their animals. On that note we beg you, please only buy organic honey! Read about the plight of our bee friends by doing a few good internet searches.

What is the shelf life of this toothpaste?

Shelf life varies by product but our minimum shelf life is 6 months from date of purchase. Remember, all of our products are as natural as possible so keep them from sun, wash your hands before applying and refrain from letting them become damp and warm to keep shelf life long.
