Curated and considered for the modern primal life

Paleo Baking Roundup!

Posted on October 06, 2015 by Barefoot Provisions

We love to bake, but sometimes when paleo-fying a recipe, you can end up with some epic #kitchenfails. Our paleo baking mixes, like Jackalope's Grain Free Baking Mix, and Paleoful's dessert mixes are a go-to for easy paleo baked goods.

We also carry a variety of delicious primal flours that make your favorite treats and eats easy to make at home, thanks to recipes from some of the best paleo and primal food bloggers. Check out the products below that we love to use in our kitchen and the following links for ways to use them in yours.

1. Otto's Cassava Flour: Their pure, clean, tender cassava flour is visually indistinguishable from wheat flour. Its texture is dense, just like wheat flour. The flavor is, well, floury, just like wheat flour. The whole idea is pretty awesome, but when you realize you don't need to use gums or stabilizers to make everything work, you'll jump for joy. When you ALSO realize that this flour is Auto Immune Protocol (AIP) friendly, well, that's just icing on your soon to be cake.

2. Heritage Sweet Potato Flour by Zocalo Gourmet:  sweet potato flour is incredibly versatile and can be used for baked goods such as breads, cookies, muffins, pancakes, crepes, cakes and doughnuts. It can also be used in soups, as a thickener for sauces and gravies, and in breading. It’s gluten free, and ours is from heirloom Peruvian sweet potatoes — delicate and delicious.

3. TigerNut Flour by Organic Gemini:  Get ready for a great new era in Paleo flour replacements; let me introduce you to something ancient and amazing: tigernut flour. It might have been one of the first flours used to make bread by the Egyptians 6000 years ago. Yeah, that's old. Luckily we have found Organic Gemini's TigerNut flour for you, ready for your thickening, baking, and coating needs. It has begun, your love affair with these tiny tubers from Paleo history.

4. Coconut Flour by Let's Do Organic: Coconut flour is a staple in my kitchen. It’s made from fresh organic coconut meat , finely ground to a flour.High in protein and fiber, low carb and gluten-free, coconut flour is a great substitute for traditional flour. It’s naturally sweet, and high in vitamins and minerals. So keep some on hand for those times when you just need to have some paleo pancakes, cookies, or cupcakes. Your body will thank you.
