Ryan Harvey's father passed away at age 39 from a sudden heart attack, forever changing the future course of life for his son. After years in the military and becoming fascinated by food and restaurant culture, Ryan trained in kitchens under amazing chefs and was impressed and saddened by what he saw. Those chefs, the ones who held ingredients in the highest regard, did not often follow their ingredients through to the source, nor did they follow it forward to think about the health of the diner. Chefs also seemed to be so engaged with their work that they neglected their own health (even those deep into the farm-to-table movement). Ryan knew this was not the career path for him. In 2014, he started making broth to showcase great ingredients and the health that results:

Glad you asked, because Bare Bones' packaging is REALLY cool. I'll let them describe it: "Our current pouches are made up of multiple layers of laminate film, including a new generation polyethylene called C8 Octane, polyester for stiffness, and nylon for strength. Our pouches are also over engineered with an incorporation of silicon dioxide powder (one of the most abundant materials on Earth, found in our bodies, and a component of glass) for the inside layer, creating an excellent oxygen barrier to maximize the freshness and shelf life."
