The first time you unwrap one of these little packages, it's easy to think you're getting just another fancy candy cup. There are many out on the market, with fillings like organic nut butters or coatings of bittersweet chocolate. But how many are made with Fair Trade chocolate? Can you count the ones crafted using only coconut sugar as sweetener? Coconut butter is a pretty delicious thing in and of itself. Dried coconut is ground up until it's a thick paste. Then a little bit of coconut oil is added to get it to a spreadable/scoopable texture, maybe a pinch of salt. For starters, it is insanely rich in healthy fats like lauric acid. Then, eatingEVOLVED gilded the lily and took their coconut butter and added just a teeny bit of coconut sugar and some peppermint oil and wrapped the whole bundle up in Fair Trade chocolate. As mentioned before, it's a far cry from a regular peppermint patty. Each bite of these cups is both bold and delicate. The chocolate melts easily due to the extremely high cocoa butter content; the filling is soft when cool, gooey when getting a bit warmer. I like to take bites out of the cups after they've been in the fridge for awhile, but you might like them right at room temperature. Just be prepared to lick off a fingertip or two from the smudge of chocolate left behind.

Coconut butter cups are best if eaten within six months. We recommend storing in a cool, dry place. All of our flavors may be frozen to extend shelf life.
Chocolate has an excellent shelf life, but keep in mind that we use no preservatives and the environmental conditions where you store the chocolate has a direct effect on freshness. Dry, cool and out of direct sunlight is always best.
