Sometimes folks say that the best "traditional" food is milk and honey. We beg to differ. When it comes down to it in the knock-down-drag-out battle for nutrition, sustenance, and overall health, you cannot beat bone broth. Sure, milk and honey are tasty, but boy I can imagine what my sweet tooth would say to that mixture: MOAR, pleez!!! Bone broth, on the other hand, is a warm and savory lifeblood of a meal. When done right like by the folks at Bare Bones Broth, it is sustainable and so packed with nutrients that your multivitamin is over there, quivering in the corner from a self-esteem meltdown. Just sip calmly, smile, and you'll feel it in your bones that everything is gonna be alright. ~

Turkey makes me happy. When it comes to poultry, there's no better all-around bird, in my opinion. Chicken, even if pastured, is mild in flavor and not that exciting to me. Duck? Well, it's delicious but so rich that it's better as an occasional indulgence. Let's not even get into the other game birds like goose and pheasant and such—they're super interesting but not always easy to add to your dinner table. Today, we can all celebrate the bounty of paleo-friendly turkey foodstuffs out in the world, from bars to broths and beyond. Bare Bones Broth began producing broths in 2014 to meet a discerning kind of health-focused person like you and me.
Each container (conveniently packaged in a BPA-free pouch with a screw-top!) contains nothing but nutrient-rich nectar from slow-simmered bones. There is no cooking on your part required; just heat and sip, or use in recipes. You'll taste the rich turkey flavor, nicely balanced by herbs like garlic, parsley, thyme, and rosemary and just the barest amount of salt and umami.
It's also amazing as the base of any favorite recipe that calls for water, from soups to big pots of heirloom beans to salad dressings and even smoothies. Yes, smoothies. Dream big, I tell ya.
Why Classic Turkey Bone Broth is so good for you
Bare Bones Broth takes pride in using only bones from animals that were humanely raised on open pastures with clean diets free of antibiotics, hormones and grains. They prioritize this above all else because what goes into the animals body goes into our bodies. They only use organic vegetables and herbs and their water is filtered, ensuring the final product is as pure and flavorful as it is packed full of vitamins, minerals and gelatin.
Each of their broths are slowly simmered for 24 hours using steam instead of an open flame. This is a much more gentle and efficient cooking method, reducing the amount of energy required to extract nutrients while ensuring they are getting every last nutrient and flavor morsel possible from the ingredients. Once the simmer is complete, they remove all the fat, impurities, and sediment before reducing the broth to concentrate the nutrients and flavor. This process is really what allows them to create the most pure broth on the market. Here is their goal as a business: "The day we're no longer the most nutrient-dense and highest quality broth on the market is the day we'll shut our doors."
On top of all that, their broths are free of gluten, dairy, soy, preservatives, MSG, powders, added flavorings and added colorings, and all of their protein sources come from certified GAP (Global Animal Partnership) ranches here in the US.

Bare Bones Broth's story, in their own words
Ryan Harvey's father passed away at age 39 from a sudden heart attack, forever changing the future course of life for his son. After years in the military and becoming fascinated by food and restaurant culture, Ryan trained in kitchens under amazing chefs and was impressed and saddened by what he saw. Those chefs, the ones who held ingredients in the highest regard, did not often follow their ingredients through to the source, nor did they follow it forward to think about the health of the diner. Chefs also seemed to be so engaged with their work that they neglected their own health (even those deep into the farm-to-table movement). Ryan knew this was not the career path for him. In 2014, he started making broth to showcase great ingredients and the health that results:
"I decided I wanted to tell a different story. And what better way to begin my story than to take the base of all cooking (stock) and reinvent it. What if I take this timeless staple, used in kitchens around the world for generations, and breathe new life into it not just as an ingredient, but as a source of serious nourishment, while simultaneously telling the farm-to-table story so important to the health of our food system.
Stock making is the oldest and most widely taught tradition in cooking, so we honor and embody this tradition in everything that we do, taking absolutely zero shortcuts."
Bare Bones' answers to all your questions
What on earth is this package made out of?
Glad you asked, because Bare Bones' packaging is REALLY cool. I'll let them describe it: "Our current pouches are made up of multiple layers of laminate film, including a new generation polyethylene called C8 Octane, polyester for stiffness, and nylon for strength. Our pouches are also over engineered with an incorporation of silicon dioxide powder (one of the most abundant materials on Earth, found in our bodies, and a component of glass) for the inside layer, creating an excellent oxygen barrier to maximize the freshness and shelf life."
