Curated and considered for the modern primal life

Mixed Berry Protein Bar by RXBAR

As a kid I fantasized about FrankenBerry breakfast cereal. A big bowl of crunchy, brightly colored, sugary, fruity . . . what more could a growing child want? Even the box was an obscene pink. These days, real fruit floats my boat, and I bet yours, too. That's where this Mixed Berry RXBAR comes in. Once you tear open the (gorgeous pink) wrapper you'll be confounded to explain how they packed so much berry into that one little bundle. The chewy bites satisfy the jaw, the tart raspberry and strawberry make your tongue tingle, and the protein and nuts keep your sugar crash forever postponed. Sweet perfection.

For the true, true stories behind this incredible foodstuff, read on.

Give me a good, chewy cookie any day of the week—toothsome is good, chomp-worthy even better. No crisp or crunch required. RXBAR heard my command and they have handed over this bar with everything I could ever desire, all packed into one wrapper, one rectangular bar of goodness. This sweet yet tangy, light yet satiating Mixed Berry flavor is a welcome member of the family.

It starts with a nose-tingling berry scent, from real berries and even more berry flavor to drive home the message. The base is still RxBar's signature dates, and then the egg white protein brings satiation and chew to the party. Follow with nuts, a smattering of berry bits for tang and great color, and finish with . What happens out of this alchemy is RXBAR's Mixed Berry Bar. It's new, it's tangy, it's terrific.

RXBAR started making bars for those of us ready to "graduate" from the tried-and-true date/nut bars. Those date bars are still delicious, make no mistake, but they can be very sweet and never did have much in the way of protein. As for the rest of the field, other "healthy" protein bars love to add things like rice or hemp or soy protein or "natural" sweeteners just to bind everything together, ingredients that might not be aligned with our nutritional goals. RXBAR meets everyone half-way perfectly: start with dried fruit and nuts, add a few spices, add some egg white protein, and . . . that's it.

Like all of the rest of the RXBAR flavors, this is a satisfying hunk of a meal or snack, from first to last bite. It won't leave your teeth aching nor your jaw unexercised (that's a good thing!).

RXBAR was conceived by two friends who wanted a better protein bar option. Here's what they say about why it all began, "RXBAR was the first real food fruit and nut protein bar on the scene. Friends since grade school Peter and Jared were inspired by the lack of a REAL FOOD protein bar. All of their favorite snack bars either lacked protein or were chock full of artificial preservatives and ingredients. They headed into the kitchen, got cooking, and RXBAR was born.

We believe that food should be simple and delicious without compromising nutrition. We believe that food should be consumed as nature intended. We set out to create a whole food protein bar we felt good about eating and that made us feel great after we ate it. And we’re sticking to it."

Why RXBAR is so good for you

Peter and Jared promise that their bars will never contain these ingredients: Dairy, Soy, Gluten, Added sugars, Artificial sweeteners, Whey, Artificial ingredients, Sugar alcohols, GMOs, or Preservatives. Need they say more?

Here are some of the amazing ingredients in RXBARs:

[Dates]

Dates are the main source of sweetness in these bars, and a natural preservative and source of awesome chewiness. Dates are vitamin and mineral-rich — they’re particularly high in iron and vitamin K.

[Egg Whites]

Egg whites are one of the best sources of protein. Unlike more conventional sources, egg white protein is immediately absorbed into the body due to the naturally high biological availability. In addition to the high-quality protein content, egg whites are jam-packed with minerals and amino acids essential to keeping your body healthy.

[Almonds]

Almonds are naturally delicious and extremely nourishing. Healthy fats, fiber, antioxidants, calcium, zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, manganese, tryptophan and vitamin E are just a handful of the key nutrients that make almonds so nutritious. Almonds are so nutritious — their list of benefits reads like a patent medicine bottle. They’re full of health-giving fats, like oleic acid and linoleic acid, powerful antioxidants that can protect against many forms of cancer (oleic acid can protect women against breast cancer specifically), and can also significantly lower the amount of LDL in your blood, and reduce your risk for heart disease. A wonderful natural sweetness and impressive variety of nutrients makes almonds one of nature’s most perfect foods.

[Cashews]

Cashews have a rich supply of oleic acid, a classically beautifying oil, great for skin and hair. It also reduces your blood triglyceride and low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and elevates your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) concentration. Cashews are also rich in linolenic acid, which can effectively lower your blood pressure, and also has antioxidant properties which defend your blood vessels from free radicals. Cashew nuts are very rich source of essential minerals, especially manganese, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium.
