For the true, true stories behind this incredible mouthstuff, read on.
I'll admit to being a bit of a lip balm skeptic. When I was a kid there was the gold standard (heck it was pretty much the only thing you could buy): Chapstick. It was touted by athletes and generally outdoorsy folks in TV commercials and advertisements galore. But lip balm (we actually just called it chapstick just like we called our 'facial tissues', well, you know...) was something not used every day, rather saved in dire situations.
Then, enter elementary school, approaching junior high. Something was making the rounds of the classmates, and it was in a cute as heck little tin with a sliding lid. The stuff was lip gloss you put on with your finger, smelling like something you'd want to eat. It was essential to have one of those little tins in your pocket, but even then it seemed contrived to me. Sure, I wanted that gloss, but only for the smell and the social cachet, rather than what it did for anyone's lips. That makes Dirty Balm about as far on the other end of the spectrum from Lip Lickers as a lip balm can get.
I mean, take the lid off, smelling the herbs and gentle coconut aroma. It's something that just begs to be smeared all over. Glide the silky-smooth tube over your lips and rub them together just a bit. Sigh in delight. That's pretty much what happened to me. I said to myself, "Huh. So why, exactly, do I *not* use lip balm? This stuff is pretty handy."
Over the next few hours you'll enjoy the gentle tingle of happy skin. Healing has begun (if needed), and the moisture is locking in. Sure, if you eat or drink something warm in the meantime you might need another application, but that's expected. What's to look forward to is the future: days and weeks of lips that are drenched in a glow from health and nutrition.
Why Dirty Balm is so good for your lips and your kissability!

Here are some of the amazing ingredients in Dirty Balm:
Used by tropical peoples for hundreds of years, coconut oil is full of skin loving fatty acids and nutrients. It allows the skin to breathe (unlike petroleum) and also is full of antioxidants, minerals, and aids absorption of vitamins. Find it as the base and key ingredient in this glorious lip balm.
Used for centuries in India, ghee fights inflammation, promotes skin cell growth, vision, and immune system health. It is full of vitamins A, E, micronutrients, and antioxidants. It makes the lip balm smooth and creamy!
Cocoa butter is high in antioxidants. It can also reduce signs of aging and stretch marks (though those might not be so likely on one's lips). Because of it's high amount of fatty acids, it also allows deep hydration of the skin, and THAT'S something everyone's lips really need just about every day of the year.
How to use Dirty Balm
For those of us who've spent years neglecting our lips, here's a tip: just take off the cap, smear just a wee bit across those kissable protrusions on your face. As the fatty nutrients melt into your skin, smile and look for someone to kiss.
Need some extra healing? Smear on a nice good layer before going to bed at night. You'll wake up with a refreshed pucker that trumps anything that happens in the daytime when there's people to talk to and food to be eaten. Give it a try and be amazed.
Everyone else who is a lip balm expert: you know what to do.

Are any of The Dirt's products Vegan?
SOME of our products are vegan. Being a company based on paleo lifestyle guidelines we feel there are certain animal products that are too beneficial to leave out such as organic bees wax and ghee. We are VERY concerned about the well being of our animal friends and only use cruelty free products from suppliers who care about their animals. On that note we beg you, please only buy organic honey! Read about the plight of our bee friends by doing a few good internet searches.

Shelf life varies by product but our minimum shelf life is 6 months from date of purchase. Remember, all of our products are as natural as possible so keep them from sun, wash your hands before applying and refrain from letting them become damp and warm to keep shelf life long.
