Either you love jerky or you don't. Jerky lovers, then, fall into the chewy or dry camps, too. The "dry" fans don't love stringy or dried-out jerky, rather they care for those thin, sharp, almost bacon-esque crunchy strips of meat. That's not where we are going today. We are going to take a trip to chewy-ville.
The chewy-fans love moist and tender cuts, full of flavor and umami and punch. This is where The New Primal thrives. Take this turkey jerky, for starters. Tear open the simple and lovely packaging and peek at the morsels inside. Each one is mild like poultry yet vibrant with meatiness and salt. Would it be too much to call this a tasty mash-up of chewy bacon and moist turkey? Perhaps, but each bite leaves me wanting just a little bit more. Clearly the flavors are working well.
That's what I like about their formula - just take really excellent turkeys and add just a few flavor friends, then let nature set the course for how the jerky is going to taste. This recipe nudges up the flavor with a touch of honey and pineapple (for that awesome teriyaki taste), then tarts up things with apple cider vinegar. Everything is rounded out with spices and a bit of salt. Done!
